Storm Relief Fundraising On at Kline Creek Farm

The local living history farm, Kline Creek Farm, is raising money to help repair storm damage from the July 1 storm. The farm sustained a great amount of damage, including over $4,000 worth to the windmill.

A Summer of Storms, Heat and Petitions

All three petitions circulated in Winfield have been notarized, stamped and duly delivered to the Village Clerk. They are now are on their way to the November ballot.

Over 5,000 signatures – 5,378 to be exact – were collected by 40 volunteers: 2,547 for  the “Keep Our Police” referendum; 2,261 to reinstate the ban on “gaming” in local barrooms; and 570 to require the Village Board to seek public approval before spending more than $ 1 Million on a […]

Special Village Board Meeting to Be Held July 26

The Winfield Village Board of Trustees has called a special meeting this Thursday, July 26, at 7 pm in the Board Room at Village Hall.

According to the agenda for Thursday’s meeting (available by clicking here), the Trustees intend to consider a referendum to increase property tax. If approved, this referendum increasing taxes will be placed on the November 6, 2012 ballot.

Daily Herald: Winfield Voters Demand Voice on Police, Video Gambling

July 19, 2012


Petitions to place referendum questions on the ballot banning video gambling and keeping the Winfield Police Department intact were submitted yesterday.

Both referendum questions will appear on the November ballot. The video gambling question will be a binding referendum, while the police question will be a non-binding referendum.
