Spande is My Choice – Winfield Deserves Better

Elections, Village Government

by Village President Deborah Birutis

Winfield Deserves Better.

Erik Spande is my clear choice to be Winfield’s next Village President. Erik will represent and listen to all of our residents, build consensus, and work tirelessly to move Winfield forward.

He is the most honest, ethical, hardworking individual I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Erik Spande is a person you can trust!

Erik has a proven track record of service and an extraordinary work ethic. As a Winfield Trustee, he is currently working on 6 resident committees including Communication & Technology, Bikeways, Environmental Concerns, Stormwater Management, Riverwalk and the Public Works committee. In the process, Erik has obtained numerous grants and donations, implemented village policy and has helped Winfield take the next steps with Du Page County’s Stormwater/Watershed project.

Erik will also stand up to do what is right, no matter the personal cost. He endured public humiliation for his role as whistleblower when he exposed the board’s plan to eliminate the police department.  After agreeing to further the discussions he realized the people’s “right to know”  was more important than the risk at violating confidentially of executive session.  (Later it was determined that the executive session meetings were held improperly.) He endured public humiliation by the board’s majority, but was heralded as a hero in the Daily Herald and received a good government award from the Citizens Advocacy Center.

Erik provides the leadership that Winfield needs and he has selected three good men to round out his ticket.  Vote Erik Spande, Jack Bajor, Jim McCurty and Phillip Mustes.
